Brooklyn Baby

High waisted denim shorts will forever be the best things to exist in those hot summer months. They're comfy and versatile, and my favourite bottoms to wear with everything.
Multiple-buckle sandals and a half-tucked tee are the best things to put with these shorts, I think.

The Weekenders Return

Summer is so close it hurts. I have a whopping eleven days left of school and I cannot wait until this break! So until that glorious chance to finally BREATHE again, I'm making the most of the weekend.
Yesterday I spent the day venturing through the wilderness with my closest friends. My bestie Connor Durand gave me the chance to model for his pictures as well! We were able to capture some moments in photos- here they are!

Time to Pretend

I DO NOT CARE THAT IT IS JUNE. I WILL WEAR FLANNELS AND LEATHER NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY. No really, I tend to complain about cold weather from the first cold spell in November... only to drag out the use of winter essentials into July. I apologize.
Here, I decided that I could make a guy's plaid button down look feminine. So with a sparkly, pastel accessory and flared skirt, I have made the impossible possible. You can thank me later.

(MY VEINS ARE WEIRD LOOKING, WHY?)

I Will Wait

I apologize for the gap in posts, ladies! It's been a crazy week, believe me. I am back though.
A week ago, my stuff from H&M came in the mail and I have been wearing everything nonstop! Here is a cute shift dress I ordered that seems to fit very well- you know, with a cami underneath. Petite girl probs, I'm telling you.
With flats and electric orange accessories, I can already feel summer coming in this look.

Aloha

This tropical shirt is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Like, really. Just look at it.
Although I am not in or anywhere even remotely close to Hawaii, I think it's still socially acceptable to wear this top since it's close to summer. Although, the piece definitely pushes the boundaries a tad.
With a neon skater skirt and Adidas sandals that have suddenly become chic, this top is pretty stylin'.

Don't Give Me Up

One of my favourite things to do in fashion is dig out my oldest pieces and totally re-invent them. Here is my dress from my middle school formal that's been buried in my closet for quite a while. Instead of wearing it with cute heels and a clutch, I decided to switch things up a bit.

With Docs and a totally 90s bracelet, this dress went from 50s housewife to modern day punk. See what accessorizing can do?

What is one time when you re-invented an old piece? Comment below and tell me! :-)

Together

Even though it's spring, it doesn't mean that you can't rock black and camo! I think it's safe to say that about 90% of my closet is black. Since I'm not willing to make do with the other 10% of coloured items for the next two seasons, my spring and summer looks will definitely include black- and I'll show you how to make it work.

Here, I wore a light black sweater on top of a camo high low skirt. To harden the outfit, I added high knee socks and Docs!

All About Us

Part of me is mourning the days when I could get away with wearing dark sweaters and boots all the time. But the other part is beyond psyched to be wearing bright colours and ballet flats once again! So as hard as it is to put away my chunky black apparel, I will settle for pastels and chiffon.

Here, I feel as though I captured the essence of spring in one look- while getting away with some black in the skirt. When you tuck a sheer button down into a mini, you're bound to get a cute outfit as a result. To make the look pop, I added a bright statement necklace and finished it off with kitten heels. I'm still mastering the art of walking in high heeled shoes, so for now I will stick to under three inch ones.

What spring staple are you currently digging out of your closet? Comment below and tell me! c:

Love Will Tear Us Apart

The time is finally upon us again: shorts season. Instead of pulling out your average denim cut offs, I decided on this pair of navy shorts to wear. With a light button down and printed flats, this outfit is a perfect weekend look.

Rivers and Roads

Sometimes, dark clothing is the best thing ever. Okay I lied, dark clothes are always the best things ever. It's usually quite difficult for me to avoid going goth/transforming into Wednesday Adams, even in this lovely weather. So I do my best to do so by wearing grey instead of black and keeping it light.
Here, I wore my wicked NYC graphic tee (men's apparel anybody?) with a buckled skater skirt. Since it's starting to warm up as well, I ditched my Docs for a cool pair of studded flats.

DIY Floral Crowns

I've been crushing on floral crowns for a little over a year now. After seeing tons of hipsters on Tumblr rock these, along with festival lovers and stars like Lana Del Rey, I knew I had to get my hands on my own. Since spending over $20 on one from a popular store seemed impossible with my broke-high-school-student budget, my friend Anna and I decided to create our own! Here is what you'll need to make lovely floral crowns like the ones shown above:

     1. A headband- you can purchase one from almost any store now-a-days, but make sure yours is sturdy enough. Also, fabric ones work best.

     2. Faux flowers- any craft store carries these, and you can pick any colour scheme you like- we decided to go with pale pinks!

     3. Something to secure the flowers with- preferably a hot glue gun.

First off, you want to yank the flowers off their stems. They should pop off, but you may need scissors to snip down the nubs left under the flower.
After you have all the flowers you will need, begin gluing them to the headband. If possible, make a base layer of the flatter ones before adding large flowers.
Continue gluing until your headband is covered entirely with flowers! Remember, you can't do much wrong while making these, so they are great for beginners.

Check out some pictures from my day with Anna!

Enjoy your new floral crown! Post pics of how yours turned out on Instagram and tag me (@justadorbsblog) so I can re-post :3
